Drew recently collaborated with a famous Los Angeles design studio for their clients 50th anniversary logo. The logos shown above are just a few samples of what Drew created for the initial concept presentations.

UPDATE: Due to the popularity of this post I thought I’d dig out a couple of other anniversary logos we  designed. The 50th O’Neill from 2002 will be published in the upcoming LogoLounge 4 and the 10th Citrix was created in 1999.

I was recently interviewed as a logo designer and rebranding expert for the public radio show Marketplace (aired on NPR). I did my best to refrain from criticizing anyones work, ie. XEROX’s new logo. When reporter Jennifer Collins arrived she took no time getting her equipment up and running. She had a microphone the size of a bazooka. I have never been interviewed before and thankfully I was able to kept my foot out of my mouth (another first). Our original interview took about an hour. Here are my official first 5 seconds of fame. (I now have 14 minutes and 55 seconds to go!)

It’s year 2 (1 in retail) for Kelly Slater’s new brand Komunity Project, the rider designed surf accessories brand. The catalog has expanded a lot and offers even more signature series traction, an extensive travel bag selection and SUP accessories. BXC was responsible for design and production and helped with some of the studio photography and all photo retouching. Printing was done by Meridian Graphics.

Here’s the catalog we collaborated on with Nixon and their crew this past fall. Nixon, if you don’t already know, is a men’s and women’s action sports lifestyle accessories brand and borders on the mainstream luxury goods markets. Unlike most brands that expand their tentacles towards mainstream consumers Nixon remains the coolest watch on the scene and committed to the core customer. We’re so stoked. It’s not every day you get to work with such tight products, table top photography, athlete portraits and materials. BXC helped with layout, redesigned grids and were the heavy wrists for final pre-press production on both US and Euro versions. The catalog was printed beautifully at D.M. Steele in Fullerton, Ca. We did a little project prior to the US Open for Prince Sports. Athlete and product promotional for Prince’s newest addition to their international team - Mike & Bob Bryan and their new racquet the O2 Speedport Black. Project included a 2 sided poster, free-standing 3D counter top signage and custom team logo (concepts shown).

I never thought I’d see the day when one of my logos would be on a Hot Wheels car! These graphics will be used on HW merchandise world wide and will include backpacks, clothing and cars. Some of these are in stores or will be in the near future. I found two cars at Target and Walmart. A special thanks to Dave at 13th Floor Design and the Mattel team for allowing me to collaborate on this project.

We just wrapped up an 8 month project designing and editing this super-slick tuner parts and lifestyle catalog for Skunk2 Racing’s new motorsports product line. Basically this is Hustler Mag for tuner aficionados including the how-to’s, mega beauty shots and close-ups only a true race-car lover would appreciate.

Newly released board graphics for world-champion windsurfer Francisco Goya’s 2007 line are now in shops world wide. BXC (nicelogo.com/BXC) designed all logos and product graphics as well as final production for the high-res screens.

I finally got to see one in person while I was on a shop tour in Europe last month. They look as if they were hand painted and signd by Goya (the windsurfer) himself.
