I just got back from Interbike in Vegas. This is evidence of the Podium water bottle product display carnage at the Camelbak booth. Apparently their new bottles (that we did the graphics for!) were the hottest item (water bottle) at the show. Everyone that walked by their booth lifted a sample and left the poor product managers and sales reps running around confiscating and rebuilding the display each day. By day 3 most had given up (as seen here). I think this is a good sign for what may happen at retail next year, except fort the shoplifting part.

Here are the renderings before final production. They look way better in real life. We should see these in stores this coming winter Holiday season.

Automotive and Motorsports 50th anniversary logo design concepts from designer Drew Dougherty at BXC branding and design an orange county firm

Drew recently collaborated (another word for freelanced) with the famous Los Angeles design firm Evenson Design for their client Honda America’s 50th anniversary logo. The logos shown above are just a few samples of what Drew created for the initial concept presentations. Unfortunately Honda choose something different but what an honor it was to play with the big kids, both of whom are brand identity and motorsports legends.

Xerox shows off new logo (and no, I did not design that logo either!).

I was recently interviewed as a logo designer and rebranding expert for the public radio show Marketplace (aired on NPR). I did my best to refrain from criticizing anyones work, ie. XEROX’s new logo. When reporter Jennifer Collins arrived she took no time getting her equipment up and running. She had a microphone the size of a bazooka. I have never been interviewed before and thankfully I was able to kept my foot out of my mouth (another first). Our original interview took about an hour. Here are my official first 5 seconds of fame. (I now have 14 minutes and 55 seconds to go!)

NIXON WATCHES Catalog Design

Here’s the catalog we collaborated on with Nixon and their crew this past fall. Nixon, if you don’t already know, is a men’s and women’s action sports lifestyle accessories brand and borders on the mainstream luxury goods markets. Unlike most brands that expand their tentacles towards mainstream consumers Nixon remains the coolest watch on the scene and committed to the core customer.

We’re so stoked. It’s not every day you get to work with such tight products, table top photography, athlete portraits and materials. BXC helped with layout, redesigned grids and were the heavy wrists for final pre-press production on both US and Euro versions. The catalog was printed beautifully at D.M. Steele in Fullerton, Ca. I’ll add more credit as they come in. Thanks E!

We did a little project prior to the US Open for Prince Sports. Athlete and product promotional for Prince’s newest addition to their international team – Mike & Bob Bryan and their new racquet the O2 Speedport Black. Project included a 2 sided poster, free-standing 3D counter top signage and custom team logo (concepts shown).

hotwheels logo design branding package for consumer product graphics boys merchandise international

I never thought I’d see the day when one of my logos would be on a Hot Wheels car! These graphics will be used on HW merchandise world wide and will include backpacks, clothing and cars. Some of these are in stores or will be in the near future. I found two cars at Target and Walmart. A special thanks to Dave at 13th Floor Design and their client Hot Wheels/Mattel  for allowing me to collaborate on this project.

We just wrapped up an 8 month project designing and editing this super-slick tuner parts and lifestyle catalog for Skunk2 Racing’s new motorsports product line. Basically this is Hustler Mag for tuner aficionados including the how-to’s, mega beauty shots and close-ups only a true race-car lover would appreciate.

boost loopt interactive banner design direction graphics and layout

This project was a collaboration with Powerplay Interactive and Boost Mobile promoting the new Boost Loopt friend finder product. BXC created layouts, all graphics and directed the interactive concepts. These eyeblaster banner ads ran everywhere teens and young adults lurked. Blob concepts by Berlin Cameron United, NY.

ad campaign concepts for europe o’neill surfing advertising ad agency BXC of Orange County

These are a few samples of the O’Neill European summer clothing branding campaign. This pan European ad campaign ran in all core surfing, windsurfing, snowboarding and action sports fashion magazines – most as front page spreads and back covers. They advertised young men’s and women’s summer and winter fashion product including boardshorts, shoes, outerwear and core accessories.

We also designed this 11×15 action sports photo calendar that kicked off the original ad campaign’s look and feel. These were not only used as corporate promo but were sold in surf shops all over Europe too. This calendar/ad campaign concept is one of my favorites, seeing that we were able to develop a 12 month campaign that successfully launched side-by-side with the consumers monthly calendar. Our work was done, so to speak.
